Memphis Shocks San Antonio

By - Kris Fletcher

For only the second time since the NBA went to a best-of-seven opening round format, an eight-seed has knocked off a one-seed.

The real shocker is, it didn't even seem like an upset.

The Grizzlies defeated the Spurs last night by a final of 99-91, clinching the series 4 games to 2. A series that quite frankly, Memphis dominated from start to finish.

Not bad for a team that was 0-12 all-time in the playoffs before this season.

Zach Randolph, who was excellent throughout the series, led the way for the Grizzlies with 31 points and 11 rebounds.

For the Spurs, Tony Parker had 23 points and Tim Duncan added 12 points and 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough. San Antonio only managed to lead twice the entire game.

Up next for Memphis will be Kevin Durant and the fourth-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder. That series is set to begin on Sunday.

  1. Memphis played a great series. I think they have a good chance to beat the Thunder as well.
