Multiple sources close to the Ohio State University football program are reporting that former Florida Gators' coach Urban Meyer will become the next head coach of the Buckeyes.

In addition to Meyer's generous compensation package, sources said a major factor in the coach's decision to agree to take the position was the school promising him the budget to assemble what is expected to become one of the highest-paid assistant coaching staffs in the history of college football.
One report states that Meyer will keep current head coach Luke Fickell on as an assistant, and try to add some big names as well, including long time ESPN analyst and former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit.
Meyer was reportedly one of two candidates contacted by the Buckeyes during the hiring process. Former NFL coach Jon Gruden was also approached by the school, but declined interest.
WTF. Where are you finding this? I'm not seeing any of it online anywhere. All I see is where there's speculation he'll take the job.
ReplyDeleteIf this is actually true, you're like the only site reporting it. That would lead me to believe it's not accurate.
ReplyDeleteThere are multipes blogs reporting this.
ReplyDeleteI've seen this being reported on a few other sites, so it's either pretty accurate or a lot of people are just recirculating bullshit. Either is possible.
ReplyDeleteAnd.... I just died inside.
ReplyDeleteIf this is true, they'll actually be better than when they had Jim Tressel. The rich get richer. Big surprise.
ReplyDeleteGuess that means he won't be taking over at Penn State huh? Lol
ReplyDeleteProbably the only guy they could bring in that's atleast equivalent to Tressel. Unreal.
ReplyDeleteMeyer's a great coach. They'll win the national championship again within the next five seasons.
ReplyDeleteThe Big Boy sports sites won't break any news unless it has been verified by their people. Don't want to risk losing credibility. But that's good for the little guy, because they can go out on the limb and post stories like this. Nothing to lose, but if they are right they get the satisfaction and props for being correct... and first with the story.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work, Fletcher. Listened to the podcast the other day. Nice work my man.
This is PHENOMENAL news for me as a diehard Buckeye fan, if it's indeed true that is...One can only hope.
ReplyDelete*Fingers crossed*
Being reported TODAY that Ohio State has contacted Meyer about the job but no deal has been reached yet. So my guess would be this is an accurate post, the two sides are just keeping it quiet for the time being. If that is infact the case, like Chris Boyett said, props to you.
ReplyDeleteThis story is really starting to pick up steam now. I'm sure it's a done deal. Kudos to you for getting it out there before everyone else.
